Unidentified Soldier In Union Cavalry Uniform And Hardee Hat With European Import Saber And French Lefaucheux Pinfire Revolver (U.S. Civil War) STICKER Vinyl Die-Cut Decal

This sticker shows a seated Union cavalry soldier of the American Civil War, photographed in a hat, uniform and equipment that document a mounted trooper of the 1860s.

Visual Elements & Composition

The portrait is built on warm, muted tones: charcoal brown dominates, with antique gold in the ornamental frame and pale grey in the lighter passages. The bearded soldier sits in the centre of the frame, wearing a wide-brimmed Hardee hat. A sabre is held upright in one hand, and a revolver rests in a belt holster. The scalloped edge and the ornate floral gilt frame give the image the feel of a period photograph set in a case.

Meaning & Symbolism

The Hardee hat was the standard headgear of mounted and infantry units of the period, and the sabre and revolver show the gear a cavalryman carried into the field. The sabre was a European import and the revolver a French LeFaucheux pinfire, which reflects how Union forces drew on foreign-made arms during the war. The soldier himself is unidentified, so the image stands as documentation of equipment and uniform rather than of a named individual.

Shaped to the Sticker

A die-cut sticker follows the outline of the scalloped frame, so the soldier is seen as a self-contained figure at close range. On a laptop or a notebook, the cut edge sets the portrait apart from the surface around it, much like the case it was first printed in.

Die-cut vinyl decals: precision-cut shapes on premium water-resistant vinyl with a matte laminate and UV protection — built to resist sun, rain and everyday wear for long-lasting use.

These die-cut decals are trimmed exactly to the design, producing crisp edges and a professional finish. They’re made from thick, water-resistant vinyl and finished with a matte UV laminate that reduces glare while protecting colors from fading.

The production process uses eco-solvent inks for dense, even color and a protective overlaminate that helps the decal survive outdoor exposure. Rated for multi-year outdoor life when applied to the right surface, these decals give a clean, matte look without sacrificing durability.

  • Material: premium water-resistant vinyl engineered for weather resistance.
  • Finish: matte laminate that mutes shine and guards against scratches.
  • Print: eco-solvent inks for solid blacks and vivid color depth.
  • Protection: UV laminate extends outdoor life and helps prevent fade.
  • Longevity: rated to last multiple years outdoors under normal conditions.

Die-cut decals adhere best to smooth, non-porous surfaces — glass, metal, coated plastics and finished wood. They work well on bottles, windows, laptops and vehicle windows for short- to medium-term outdoor use.

  1. Prep the surface: remove dust and oils with a lint-free cloth; for residue use mild soap and water and allow to dry fully.
  2. Peel and position: lift a corner of the liner, align the decal and lay it down slowly, pressing from the center outward.
  3. Seal: smooth the edges with a card or your thumb to ensure full contact and reduce trapping air.

Note: to keep adhesive performance in wet conditions, apply decals to very smooth surfaces (for example: glass). Avoid rough or heavily textured materials where the adhesive can’t form a full bond.

Maintenance is low-effort. Gently wipe decals with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp microfiber and light pressure will clean the surface — dry immediately afterward.

Avoid abrasive pads, strong solvents or power washers; these can scratch the laminate or lift edges. Proper care preserves the matte finish and keeps colors vivid for longer.

Sizes are specified by the longest side. For example, a 4″ decal measures four inches across its greatest dimension. The die-cut follows the artwork’s contour so the decal sits flush with clean, professional edges.

Small variations can occur with intricate outlines, but the listed measurement always reflects the maximum edge-to-edge length for accurate placement planning.
