Middle coat of arms of the Grand Dukes of Luxembourg prior to 2000 - STICKER Vinyl Kiss-Cut Decal
A crowned heraldic shield of ten striped bands carries a red lion, flanked by two gold lions and topped by the grand ducal crown.
Visual Elements & Composition
The shield sits at the centre and dominates the layout, its ten horizontal bands alternating silver and royal blue. A double-tailed red lion, crowned, armed and langued in gold, runs across the bands. Two gold lions rampant guardant stand on either side and hold the shield, and the grand ducal crown with its eight arches and globe sits above. A red mantle lined with ermine frames the whole arrangement, gathered with gold cords and tassels. Gold dominates the palette, with the bright blue and crimson giving the shield its punch.
Meaning & Symbolism
The red lion is the Lion of Luxembourg, the ancient emblem of the medieval Counts of Luxembourg, so the device links the modern grand ducal line back to that older lineage. The formal crown, the ermine and the supporting lions mark the arms as royal ornament. Grand Duke Adolphe of Nassau formalised this version on 23 June 1898, and it stayed the official heraldic representation for Adolphe, Guillaume IV, Charlotte and Jean across the twentieth century, until a revision under Grand Duke Henri replaced it.
On the Kiss-Cut Sticker
A kiss-cut sticker is trimmed around the edge of its artwork while the backing stays whole, so the outline of the mantle and crown becomes the sticker's own silhouette. The bold blocks of gold, blue and red read as clear shapes on a laptop lid, a journal cover or a smooth window, and the heraldic detail stays sharp at close range.
