CVN 70 USS Carl Vinson 1982 (U.S. Navy) REVERSE PRINT Transparent Die-Cut STICKER: Design Overview

This design encapsulates the might and history of the USS Carl Vinson (CVN-70), a cornerstone of the U.S. Navy. The reverse-print application, designed for placement on transparent surfaces, offers a unique visual perspective, allowing the detailed artwork to shine through.

Visual Elements and Representation

The primary element of the design features the iconic silhouette of the USS Carl Vinson, a Nimitz-class aircraft carrier. The carrier is depicted in its operational glory, possibly at sea or during flight operations. The inclusion of the hull number "CVN-70" clearly identifies the specific vessel, linking it to the historical information provided. The year "1982" signifies its commissioning, grounding the design in the ship's initial service era.

The die-cut format allows the design to conform seamlessly to the edges of the image, enhancing its visual impact and providing a clean, professional aesthetic. The transparent background ensures the carrier and any supplementary design elements appear to float within the space where it is applied.

Symbolism and Meaning

The design represents the power projection and global reach of the United States Navy. The USS Carl Vinson, as a floating airbase, embodies naval dominance and the nation's ability to respond to situations worldwide. The inclusion of the ship's details—its name, class, hull number, and commissioning year—highlights its significant contributions and enduring legacy within the U.S. Navy.

The reverse-print nature offers the opportunity for the design to be prominently displayed on surfaces like windows, allowing for viewing from either side. This allows the design to act as a visual tribute to the ship, it's history, and the men and women who have served on it.

Reverse-print die-cut decals are made to be installed on the **inside** of glass so your artwork faces outward. Built from water-resistant vinyl and finished with a matte UV laminate, they’re designed to stay vivid while being protected from the elements.

Think of these as “inside-protected” window graphics: the printed face is applied to the glass interior, which keeps the design shielded from direct contact and weather. The core material is a robust, water-resistant vinyl topped with a matte laminate that reduces glare and adds scratch resistance.

We use eco-solvent inks for saturated, long-lasting color, and each decal is precision die-cut so the edges sit clean against the glass. Finished in the USA from globally sourced components, these decals balance durability with a professional, understated look.

  • Material: water-resistant vinyl with a matte UV-protective laminate.
  • Method: reverse-print (installed inside glass) so the environment meets glass, not the ink.
  • Durability: engineered for multi-year outdoor performance when properly applied.
  • Made in the USA: assembled locally from globally sourced parts.
  • Design notes: very small elements placed close together may cut into a single shape; low-contrast elements on dark glass can be hard to see from the street.

Where do people put these? Storefront windows, car or van glass (interior mount), glass office partitions, and interior display cases are common spots. Because the print faces outward but is protected from the outside, the graphic holds up better against touch and weather.

  1. Prep: thoroughly clean the glass—use mild soap and water or an alcohol wipe for grease. Let it dry completely.
  2. Position: peel a corner of the liner and align carefully. Lay the decal down slowly, pressing from the center outward to push out air.
  3. Finish: use a soft card or squeegee to smooth edges; allow at least 24 hours for the adhesive to fully bond before heavy exposure to weather.

Heads-up: if your design uses fine text or very thin lines packed close together, consider simplifying those elements—small slivers can merge during cutting. Also, designs placed on dark-tinted glass will read darker and may lose subtle hues.

Care is low-key but worthwhile. Wipe decals with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For more stubborn dirt, use a lightly damp microfiber and blot dry right away.

Avoid abrasive pads, scouring powders, and harsh solvents such as straight ammonia or concentrated cleaners—those can dull the laminate or lift edges. Proper, gentle cleaning preserves the matte finish and color saturation over time.

Available in five sizes. We list sizes by the sticker’s longest side—so a 4″ decal measures four inches across its greatest dimension. The die-cut follows the artwork outline for a tight, professional edge.

If your artwork has intricate islands or very thin gaps, expect slight variation: tiny islands may be merged into a single piece during cutting. When in doubt, test at a slightly larger scale or simplify closely spaced details.
