COQUES, Gonzales - Equestrian Portrait of a Couple (Artwork) STICKER Vinyl Die-Cut Decal

A Glimpse of 17th-Century Aristocracy

This striking decal presents a faithful rendition of Gonzales Coques' "Equestrian Portrait of a Couple," a captivating window into the social and artistic landscape of 17th-century Flanders. The design showcases an elegant couple mounted on horseback, exuding an air of aristocratic leisure and privilege.

Visual Narrative

The central figures, depicted with refined posture and attire, embody the status and wealth of the era. The presence of a "blackamoor" servant, carrying likely the rider's cloak and hat, further enriches the scene, adding a layer of historical context and social hierarchy. A small dog, a symbol of companionship and loyalty, completes the composition.

Artistic Echoes and Intimate Grandeur

Coques' design expertly blends elements of grand equestrian portraiture, drawing inspiration from masters like Rubens and van Dyck, while tailoring the style for a more intimate and accessible format. This decal beautifully captures Coques' talent for translating aristocratic visual languages into a more personal and approachable artistic expression.

The design speaks volumes about the evolution of portraiture, portraying a dynamic, narrative scene that goes beyond the static portraits of the time. It conveys aristocratic leisure and privilege, represented in a format of "personal grandeur."

Die-cut vinyl decals: precision-cut shapes on premium water-resistant vinyl with a matte laminate and UV protection — built to resist sun, rain and everyday wear for long-lasting use.

These die-cut decals are trimmed exactly to the design, producing crisp edges and a professional finish. They’re made from thick, water-resistant vinyl and finished with a matte UV laminate that reduces glare while protecting colors from fading.

The production process uses eco-solvent inks for dense, even color and a protective overlaminate that helps the decal survive outdoor exposure. Rated for multi-year outdoor life when applied to the right surface, these decals give a clean, matte look without sacrificing durability.

  • Material: premium water-resistant vinyl engineered for weather resistance.
  • Finish: matte laminate that mutes shine and guards against scratches.
  • Print: eco-solvent inks for solid blacks and vivid color depth.
  • Protection: UV laminate extends outdoor life and helps prevent fade.
  • Longevity: rated to last multiple years outdoors under normal conditions.

Die-cut decals adhere best to smooth, non-porous surfaces — glass, metal, coated plastics and finished wood. They work well on bottles, windows, laptops and vehicle windows for short- to medium-term outdoor use.

  1. Prep the surface: remove dust and oils with a lint-free cloth; for residue use mild soap and water and allow to dry fully.
  2. Peel and position: lift a corner of the liner, align the decal and lay it down slowly, pressing from the center outward.
  3. Seal: smooth the edges with a card or your thumb to ensure full contact and reduce trapping air.

Note: to keep adhesive performance in wet conditions, apply decals to very smooth surfaces (for example: glass). Avoid rough or heavily textured materials where the adhesive can’t form a full bond.

Maintenance is low-effort. Gently wipe decals with a soft, dry cloth to remove dust. For stubborn marks, a slightly damp microfiber and light pressure will clean the surface — dry immediately afterward.

Avoid abrasive pads, strong solvents or power washers; these can scratch the laminate or lift edges. Proper care preserves the matte finish and keeps colors vivid for longer.

Sizes are specified by the longest side. For example, a 4″ decal measures four inches across its greatest dimension. The die-cut follows the artwork’s contour so the decal sits flush with clean, professional edges.

Small variations can occur with intricate outlines, but the listed measurement always reflects the maximum edge-to-edge length for accurate placement planning.
