Coat of Arms Sticker Design: Philip of Austria, Prince of Asturias & King of England

This striking sticker showcases the intricate and historically significant coat of arms of Philip II of Spain, also known as Philip of Austria, reflecting his titles as both Prince of Asturias and King Consort of England. The design is a powerful visual representation of his vast territorial claims and dynastic heritage, a true emblem of a powerful era.

Shield Composition

The shield is the core of this heraldic design. It is meticulously divided, quartered, and impaled, presenting a complex yet elegant arrangement of symbols. This design expertly combines the heraldic elements of Spain, Austria, and England, representing Philip's diverse lineage and royal roles.

Quarter 1: Castile & LeĂłn

The upper left quarter features the arms of Castile and LeĂłn, the heart of Spain. Gules (red) for the field, a golden castle, signifying Castile, is shown alongside a silver field with a rampant purple lion representing LeĂłn. These elements together symbolize the unification of these kingdoms.

Quarter 2: Aragon & Sicily

The upper right quarter displays the arms of Aragon and Sicily. The Aragon portion features four vertical stripes of gules (red) on a gold field, a visual shorthand for the kingdom. The Sicilian arms, presented per saltire (diagonally), depict a gules (red) and argent (silver) field with a displayed eagle.

Quarter 3: Austria & Burgundy

The lower left quarter showcases Philip's Austrian heritage, with a gules (red) field crossed with a silver fess (horizontal stripe). Adjacent to this are the arms of Burgundy, with a field of azure (blue) sprinkled with golden fleur-de-lis, and a red bordure (border).

Quarter 4: Flanders & Brabant

The lower right quarter features gold with black lion, representing Flanders & Brabant, showcasing the depth and breadth of his inherited lands. This detail emphasizes the extensive reach of his family's influence.

Inescutcheon: Jerusalem

The center of the shield is dominated by an inescutcheon, or smaller shield, containing the arms of Jerusalem. It features a silver field with a cross potent (a specific cross design) between four smaller crosslets, which symbolize the connection to the Holy Land.

Impaled: England

As King Consort of England, the shield is impaled (placed side-by-side) with the English Royal Arms. The English quartering includes the familiar three gold lions passant guardant on a red field in the first and fourth quarters. This element signifies his marriage to Mary I and his claim to the English throne.

Additional Elements

The design, as a whole, is a remarkable work of historical art, a perfect example of a powerful royal emblem. The use of heraldic colors and detailed depictions make this sticker a stunning visual statement. The inclusion of the Pillars of Hercules and the motto "Plus Ultra" (Not Included in the actual design for the sticker) further enhances the design's significance.

Glossy kiss-cut vinyl stickers made for smooth, indoor surfaces — laptops, journals, mirrors, and other finished items. Crisp edges, vivid color, strong hold, and not waterproof.

What “kiss-cut” means: the blade cuts the vinyl layer into the exact shape while leaving the backing liner whole, so pieces separate cleanly and lift off the sheet without tearing. It’s the neatest way to produce shaped stickers and multi-piece sheets.

  • Material: reliable vinyl face with a permanent acrylic adhesive formulated for smooth, non-porous surfaces.
  • Finish: glossy surface that enhances contrast and depth without feeling overly reflective.
  • Printing: eco-solvent inks provide dense color and crisp detail for fine lines and gradients.
  • Use case: intended for indoor environments only — not waterproof. Not recommended for continuous exposure to moisture or dishwashing.
  • Application friendly: easy-peel backing and a liner that releases cleanly to help reduce bubbles and misfeeds during placement.

These stickers perform best on smooth, dust-free surfaces — think laptop lids, sealed notebooks, glass, mirrors, finished shelving and lockers. They’ll stick well where the surface is flat and clean; avoid rough wood, silicone, fabric, and heavily textured paint.

  1. Clean: remove dust and oils with a lint-free cloth. For stubborn grime, use a mild soap and water rinse; let the area dry completely.
  2. Align: peel a corner, position carefully, then press the center down first.
  3. Smooth: work outward from the center with a soft card or a thumb to push air out and ensure the edges set down firmly.

Tip: give the adhesive 24 hours to fully settle before heavy handling. These are not designed for outdoor or wet conditions.

  • Gently dust with a soft, dry cloth, moving from the center outward to avoid scratching the gloss.
  • For light marks, a barely damp microfiber will lift residue — blot, don’t scrub, and dry right away.
  • Avoid bleach, solvents, abrasive pads, and steam; moisture or harsh chemicals can lift edges and fade inks.

Reminder: these stickers are not waterproof. Keep them away from sinks, outdoor exposure, and dishwasher cycles to maintain adhesion and finish.

Sizes are measured across the sticker’s longest side. For example, a 3″ sticker is 3 inches across its largest dimension (height or width, depending on the shape).

The kiss-cut follows the sticker’s outline for a tidy border; complex shapes can show small variances, but the advertised measurement refers to the maximum edge-to-edge length.
