Visual Elements & Composition

Silver grey takes the largest share of the field, with burnt orange as the strongest accent, so the crest reads as a bold orange-and-grey emblem. A shield-shaped core carries a black chevron dotted with white, flanked by a pair of black wings that lift the composition outward. A wavy vertical partition splits the field, and an orange and grey fleur-de-lis sits within it. The scroll banner runs beneath the shield and carries the three words of the motto in white and black lettering, which anchors the layout from the bottom.

Meaning & Symbolism

Orange and white are the traditional colours of the Signal Corps, and this design keeps that orange as its lead hue. The wavy partition represents the Rhine River, a nod to the battalion's World War II service. The fleur-de-lis and the winged chevron are drawn from the unit's Distinctive Unit Insignia, and the motto "The Commander's Voice" speaks to the battalion's role in the Army's communication infrastructure. The 82nd Signal Battalion was associated with the 82nd Airborne Division and was inactivated in 2006, so this artwork is a tribute to a unit whose work was the transmission of orders.

  2. Apply: peel, align, and press from the center outward with a card or squeegee to push out air.
  3. Set: allow 24 hours for the adhesive to reach full bond; avoid heavy moisture during this time.

Tips: Avoid heavily textured or silicone-coated surfaces. For curved items, apply slowly and don’t stretch the film.

  • Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth from the center outward to lift dust and grime.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh solvents, or pressure washers that can dull the holographic layer.
  • If placed on bottles or mugs, hand-wash is recommended. Prolonged high-heat cycles can shorten adhesive life.
