This design reproduces the insignia of the 690 Cyberspace Operations Squadron, a unit of the United States Air Force under Air Force Space Command, built as a circular badge around a globe, padlock and circuitry.

Visual Elements & Composition

Black fills almost half the field, giving the badge a heavy, structured base. Navy blue sets the globe, drawn as a wireframe with a padlock locked into its surface. Crimson red circuit traces radiate outward from the globe in clean, evenly spaced lines, and yellow lightning bolts cut through the composition to supply the sharpest accent. Curved title banners frame the circle, carrying the words WIRED, FOR, WAR, 690TH, CYBERSPACE, OPERATIONS and SQ. The layout is symmetrical and flat, with no shading, so each colour block reads as a distinct shape.

Meaning & Symbolism

The emblem follows formal military heraldry, where the circular badge, banners and central device communicate a unit's identity at a glance. The globe and padlock stand for defending networked systems across the world, while the circuit traces show the cyber domain the squadron operates within. The lightning bolts signal speed and force. The emblem was approved on July 8, 2015, placing it in the modern era of the squadron and of Air Force Space Command, which oversees the service's space and cyber mission.
