    Description/Blazon

    A shield blazoned: Argent, a pairle Azure between, in chief, an oak tree Proper within a circle of five mullets Gules, and in base, a palm tree to dexter and a prickly pear cactus to sinister, both of the third. Above the shield, on a wreath Or and upon a grassy field, is the blockhouse of old Fort Dearborn Proper. Below and to the sides of the shield is a gold scroll inscribed "SEMPER PARATUS" in gold.

    Symbolism

    The white shield with the blue pairle is adapted from the city of Chicago’s coat of arms, and the white and blue colors reflect Infantry traditions. The green oak tree represents Forges Wood, while the five red mullets symbolize the Regiment’s major operations in France. The palm tree signifies Cuban service, and the cactus denotes Mexican border service. The crest of the Illinois Army National Guard adorns the top. The motto translates to "Ever Ready."

    Background

    The distinctive unit insignia was approved on March 13, 1925. It was amended to change the motto to Latin on October 16, 1926, and was rescinded on October 20, 1961.

  • Signature finish: a 99% opaque rainbow effect that shifts with angle and light—clean edges and a smooth, matte-sheen feel rather than a mirror gloss.
  • Waterproof: designed for rain, splashes, and regular washing on smooth, non-porous surfaces.
  • Eco-conscious printing: vibrant, high-density color produced with eco-solvent inks for sharp lines and rich gradients.
  • Color guidance: no white underbase is applied; pure white areas won’t print, and very light tones allow the holographic layer to show through. Darker tones deliver the strongest contrast.
  • Easy-peel backing: release liner separates cleanly for quick, bubble-free placement.

Made for smooth surfaces: glass, metal, coated plastics, sealed laptops, bottles, mirrors, lockers, and windows. Suitable for interiors and short-term exterior spots like vehicle windows or signage.

  1. Prep: clean the area with mild soap and water or 70% isopropyl alcohol; let it dry fully.
  2. Apply: peel, align, and press from the center outward with a card or squeegee to push out air.
  3. Set: allow 24 hours for the adhesive to reach full bond; avoid heavy moisture during this time.

Tips: Avoid heavily textured or silicone-coated surfaces. For curved items, apply slowly and don’t stretch the film.

  • Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth from the center outward to lift dust and grime.
  • Avoid abrasive pads, harsh solvents, or pressure washers that can dull the holographic layer.
  • If placed on bottles or mugs, hand-wash is recommended. Prolonged high-heat cycles can shorten adhesive life.

Available in five sizes. Measurements refer to the longest side of the decal. A “3 inch” option is 3 inches across its largest dimension; the die-cut follows the exact contour for crisp, professional edges.
