Visual Elements & Composition

Silver grey dominates the design, taking up roughly two-fifths of the artwork and giving the cross and frame their polished, medal-like sheen. Dark green fills the oak tree and supports the foreground, while maroon forms the scroll banner that carries the single word of text, EVACUARE. Small brown accents sit at the base of the tree. The layout is symmetrical and centred, with a shield-like crest anchoring the composition and the Greek cross set at its heart, so the eye moves from the cross to the tree and down to the banner.

Meaning & Symbolism

The design draws on the Distinctive Unit Insignia of the United States Army 115th Field Hospital. The silver cross stands for the Army Medical Corps, and the oak tree commemorates the unit's service in the First World War. EVACUARE, which translates from Latin as "To Evacuate," names the unit's mission of moving the wounded from the front to care. The unit's lineage runs from 1917 through the Gulf War, Operation Iraqi Freedom and Operation Enduring Freedom, and it has also served as the 115th Combat Support Hospital and the 15th Evacuation Hospital. The artwork is a formal, respectful record of that service across the twentieth and twenty-first centuries.

  2. Apply: peel, align, and press from the center outward with a card or squeegee to push out air.
  3. Set: allow 24 hours for the adhesive to reach full bond; avoid heavy moisture during this time.

Tips: Avoid heavily textured or silicone-coated surfaces. For curved items, apply slowly and don’t stretch the film.

  • Wipe with a soft, dry or slightly damp cloth from the center outward to lift dust and grime.
