Meaning & Symbolism

The design honours the 107th Military Intelligence Battalion, a United States Army unit assigned to the 7th Infantry Division. It was constituted on June 1, 1983, and inactivated in 1993, and its story is carried in the imagery. The blade and bolt speak to the unit's intelligence and reconnaissance work, and the interlaced knot reflects the connected nature of that mission. The unit's motto, "Through Knowledge Victory," sits at the heart of the tribute. The unit was based at Fort Ec Ord, California, and took part in Operation Just Cause in Panama.
