    Description/Blazon

A shield blazoned: Argent, on a saltire Gules, between in chief a Roman sword in sheath paleways point to base and in base a prickly pear cactus, both Vert, a fleur-de-lis of the first. Below and to the sides of the shield is a silver scroll inscribed "FLORIDA AND COUNTRY" in black letters.

    Symbolism

The white shield represents the traditional Infantry color. The red saltire is adapted from the Florida State flag. The sheathed sword, derived from the Spanish War service medal, symbolizes service during that conflict. The prickly pear cactus represents service on the Mexican Border, and the fleur-de-lis signifies service during World War I.

    Background

The distinctive unit insignia was originally approved for the 124th Infantry Regiment on November 19, 1927. It was redesignated for the 124th Armored Infantry Battalion on April 20, 1956, and redesignated for the 124th Infantry Regiment on June 27, 1960. The insignia was amended to add a motto on August 20, 1968.
