Sage green and parchment beige form the ground, with gold leaf catching the light. Two figures in green kimono printed with lotus motifs sit beside a bald man holding a folded fan, and a child carries a rolled paper. Ink black defines the figures and a vertical calligraphy column, where a vermilion red seal and the character 豊 mark the page.

Meaning & Symbolism

Albums like this were built for close, unhurried viewing by connoisseurs and scholars, each leaf a small portable gallery. Gathering several hands into one bound format shows the networks of artists who shared techniques, motifs and approaches to their craft. The calligraphy and red seal signal the literati tradition of the period, where poetry, script and image were read together. The album survives as a record of Japanese artistic exchange in the nineteenth century.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker follows its own outline, so the panel can be trimmed to the framed edge, the figures, or the calligraphy column. Each cut shape keeps the composition intact while reshaping it into an object that can be placed on a notebook, laptop or journal. The artwork is small enough to hold close, the way the original albums were meant to be viewed.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/various-artists-painting-album-of-sublime-talent-ca-1815-v4-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788139149
https://thestickerspace.com/products/various-artists-painting-album-of-sublime-talent-ca-1815-v4-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
