Dusty pink, black and pale blue-grey carry the figures, set against parchment tones and touches of gold-yellow. Bamboo stalks rise through the background, and the characters 岩井 are inscribed in the print itself.

Meaning & Symbolism

The album belongs to yakusha-e, the genre devoted to portraits of celebrated Kabuki actors. Each figure is a stylised role rather than a candid likeness, so the poses, costumes and dramatic stillness record the performance itself. Kunisada worked as one of the defining masters of the Edo-period print studio, and this series preserves the theatrical culture of nineteenth-century Japan as a visual archive.

Why It Works as a Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to its own outline, so the sword, the robe and the bamboo edge become the shape of the object. Each piece sits on a surface as a single figure rather than a framed panel, which suits a print built from strong silhouettes and vertical rhythm. The design brings a piece of Kabuki history onto everyday surfaces for collectors of Japanese art and theatre.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/utagawa-kunisada-album-of-thirty-actor-prints-19th-century-v16-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-TGWKNS-2X2-128-alt-3.webp?v=1785640434
https://thestickerspace.com/products/utagawa-kunisada-album-of-thirty-actor-prints-19th-century-v16-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
