The design mirrors the style found on formal Coast Guard officer uniforms, providing a recognizable emblem of rank and service.

Visual Elements

The artwork centers around a navy-blue rectangular field, the background for the insignia. A border of gold, precisely rendered, frames the outer edges of the board, offering a touch of elegance and mirroring the gold braid found on the actual shoulder board. The layout adopts a vertical orientation, designed to be mounted along a shoulder strap.

Insignia and Symbolism

At the upper end of the decal, a gold Coast Guard shield is displayed. This shield is a symbol of the Coast Guard's federal authority and its maritime mission. Positioned below the shield is the rank indicator: a single, precisely scaled, gold stripe. This stripe, wider than the stripes used for lower ranks, represents the rank of Lieutenant (Junior Grade). The placement of the stripe near the lower end of the board completes the accurate reproduction of the shoulder board design.

Representation

This design accurately portrays the O-2 rank, which is equivalent to a First Lieutenant in other U.S. military branches. The entire design represents a junior commissioned officer in the USCG and signifies the wearer's position in the officer corps. The vertical format is a visual distinction, aligning with naval uniform traditions and adapted for shoulder epaulet mounting.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/uscg-o-2-vertical-shoulderboard-united-states-military-rank-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-2-inch-white-position1.webp?v=1772355878
https://thestickerspace.com/products/uscg-o-2-vertical-shoulderboard-united-states-military-rank-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
