Armoured warriors with swords and archers with quivers of arrows occupy the foreground, set against wooden palace walls and a single pine tree. The palette runs on warm grey, dark green, crimson red and pale wood tan, with the gold doing the work of light and distance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The two mid-twelfth-century rebellions mark the point where the samurai class first shaped who would sit on the Japanese throne. The contest between the Taira and Minamoto clans led directly to the shogunate, and the walls and courtly setting show the Heian court losing its grip. Painted in the 17th century, the screen looks back on that upheaval through the Edo period's taste for retelling heroic and tragic history, bridging classical epic literature and the aesthetics of its own age.

On the Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to its own outline, so the warriors, clouds and palace walls read as a single shape rather than a framed rectangle. It suits indoor decor and smooth, flat surfaces such as laptops, journals and windows, where the gold clouds catch light at close range.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/unknown-the-rebellions-of-the-hgen-and-heiji-eras-17th-century-v127-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788128560
https://thestickerspace.com/products/unknown-the-rebellions-of-the-hgen-and-heiji-eras-17th-century-v127-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
