The paper itself dominates the composition, with the marks sitting loosely across it rather than framing a central image. The result is a quiet, textural field where the handwork of the page is the first thing the eye registers.

Meaning & Symbolism

The Shiva Mahatmya narrates the cosmic acts and devotional episodes of Shiva, a central deity of Hinduism who embodies creation, destruction and regeneration. Manuscript leaves like this one preserved sacred literature and Puranic stories for regional courts and devotees, joining textual reverence to visual storytelling. Painted during a vibrant period of Mewar painting, this leaf reflects the stylistic vitality of eighteenth-century Rajasthani ateliers, whose anonymous masters contributed to a long tradition of narrative illustration.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to its own outline, so the design reads as an object placed on a surface rather than a page held in the hand. The stain and pencil marks translate directly into the vinyl, letting the leaf's aged paper character stand on its own wherever it is applied. For collectors of Rajasthani manuscript art, it brings a fragment of the Shiva narrative into everyday view.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/unknown-page-from-a-dispersed-shiva-mahatmya-great-tales-of-shiva-ca-1710-v2-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788120674
https://thestickerspace.com/products/unknown-page-from-a-dispersed-shiva-mahatmya-great-tales-of-shiva-ca-1710-v2-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
