Pencil grey lines define the figures, and the partial wash adds parchment tan, pale blue and pale yellow across the paper. The eye moves across a rider on a lion at the left, horses drawing chariots, and a blue-skinned warrior in a chariot, while an emaciated, long-haired ascetic figure and fallen figures at the bottom anchor the lower edge of the scene.

Meaning & Symbolism

The scene is drawn from the Devi Mahatmya, a foundational Hindu text that tells of the struggle between divine power and demonic forces. Durga and Kali together embody the goddess in her multiple forms, combining protective grace with the fierce energy needed to defeat evil. The battle restores order to the universe, so the image stands for the triumph of righteousness over chaos. It was attributed to the Guler school of Himachal Pradesh, whose artists were known for narrative detail and mythological subjects that shaped the wider Pahari painting tradition.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker follows its own outline, so the composition can be trimmed to the warriors, the lion or the chariots rather than kept within a rectangle. The grid and fallen figures read clearly at sticker scale, and the cut shape lets the scene sit on a laptop, journal or notebook as a standalone piece of devotional art.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/unknown-durga-and-kali-approach-the-gathered-armies-of-chanda-and-munda-scene-from-the-devi-ca-1780-v1-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788110888
https://thestickerspace.com/products/unknown-durga-and-kali-approach-the-gathered-armies-of-chanda-and-munda-scene-from-the-devi-ca-1780-v1-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
