Attendant luohan with varied expressions and specialized attributes crowd the perimeter alongside the towering armor-clad heavenly king, while smaller boy figures animate the lower tiers. Earthy mineral pigments and fading gold outlines define the robes, halos, and craggy landscape elements characteristic of late Ming dynasty Buddhist painting conventions.

Iconography & Historical Context

Shakyamuni represents the historical Buddha at the center of the cosmos, flanked by enlightened disciples who have attained arhatship and celestial guardians pledged to protect the dharma. The inclusion of playful boys introduces auspicious themes of lineage and blessing into a standard monastic lineage scene. Originating from an anonymous workshop in the tumultuous decades of the early seventeenth century, the piece reflects both orthodox religious devotion and the era's sophisticated taste for narrative complexity in sacred art.

On the Kiss-Cut Stickers

Transformed into a kiss-cut sticker, this intricate seventeenth-century tableau is precision-trimmed to follow the winding contours of the figural group rather than a standard geometric frame. The die-cut perimeter isolates the celestial assembly so that the dense crowd of deities and attendants floats directly against whatever smooth flat surface you choose to adorn.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/unidentified-artist-shakyamuni-with-luohan-heavenly-king-and-boys-early-17th-century-v2-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788383489
https://thestickerspace.com/products/unidentified-artist-shakyamuni-with-luohan-heavenly-king-and-boys-early-17th-century-v2-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
