Ink and light colour carry the scene in warm grey-brown, pale cream, and muted indigo. A standing robed figure holds a bowl, a second figure lies sprawled on the ground, and a ceramic wine jar sits among them. Bare plum branches frame the upper edge. A vermilion red seal stamp marks the image, the only strong accent in an otherwise restrained palette.

Meaning & Symbolism

The scene draws on a classic literary anecdote. In Chinese culture, a drunken military official or scholar stands for a Daoist escape from state service, social duty, and political strain. Wine, in the hands of poets and painters, was a way to set aside worldly troubles and move with the spontaneity of nature. The general's intoxication marks a brief release from martial responsibility, while the loyal servant embodies order and duty. Fan paintings like this one were prized by the literati as intimate tokens of cultural refinement, and this example reflects the craftsmanship and narrative taste of Ming scholarly circles.

On This Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to its own outline, so the fan leaf and its figures can be seen as a single shape rather than a framed rectangle. The intimate scale of the painting suits an object that sits close to the eye, where the wine jar, the bowl, and the sprawled general reward a closer look.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/unidentified-artist-landscape-with-drunken-general-and-servant-unknown-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788440703
https://thestickerspace.com/products/unidentified-artist-landscape-with-drunken-general-and-servant-unknown-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
