The character 北 is set on the left, and the two numeral 8s follow in the same heavy weight, so the three figures form an even row. The white ground is generous and unbroken, and the frame's corners are the only curved forms in the piece, which keeps the layout orderly and quiet.

Meaning & Symbolism

The character 北 means north, and on a route marker the directional character tells the reader which way a numbered road runs. The repeated numeral 8 gives the route its identity within the network. Because the sign has no picture beyond its lettering, its whole meaning sits in the reading of a direction and a route number, and the design takes its place in the TW THWtp series of markers that share this frame and format.

Cut to the Sign's Edge

A kiss-cut sticker is trimmed to the outline of its artwork, so the black frame becomes the sticker's own edge and the sign appears to sit flat on the surface it is applied to. That suits a flat, close-viewed spot such as a laptop lid, the cover of a journal or a clean window pane, where the directional character and both numerals stand out clearly from a short distance.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/tw-thwtp88-taiwan-road-sign-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-TWTHW-2X2-601-front.webp?v=1793825431
