The rounded border and the character are black, and the field around them is white. The character sits in the upper portion of the frame, and the numerals 1, 6 and 8 run beneath it at the same weight. The rounded corners soften the outline, while the straight lines of the type keep the composition orderly and easy to scan.

Meaning & Symbolism

Numbered route markers are the basic tool of Taiwan's road network, pairing a place-name character with a route number. The character 彰 is the one used in the name of Changhua County, which fixes the sign to a specific region. Each route number distinguishes one road from the next, so the marker works as a point of orientation rather than decoration, and its clean modern look belongs to the signage that has been standard on Taiwan's roads.

Shaped Like the Sign Itself

A die-cut sticker takes the artwork's outline as its own, so the rounded rectangle of the marker forms the edge of the sticker. Because the design is so spare, the black type holds its shape at close range, whether the sticker sits on a laptop lid, a notebook cover or a phone case.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/tw-thwch168-taiwan-road-sign-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-TWTHW-WHITED-1FKPP-front.webp?v=1793817874
