sp-657-brazil-road-sign-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal
SP-657 (Brazil) (Road Sign) STICKER Vinyl Die-Cut Decal

SP-657 (Brazil) (Road Sign) STICKER Vinyl Die-Cut Decal

This piece reduces a Brazilian road sign to its essentials: a single designation, SP-657, set inside a plain signage format.

Visual Elements & Composition

The layout is minimalist. The designation sits at the centre of the field and dominates the composition, with no decorative illustration competing for attention. The sign's rectangular or plate-like structure frames the code, so the numerals and letters do the work that a pictorial scene would otherwise do. Restraint is the point: each element is there to be read at a glance, the way a driver reads a route marker.

Meaning & Symbolism

The code follows the state highway convention used in São Paulo, where the "SP" prefix identifies the state and the number identifies the individual road. Reading the design this way links it to Brazil's geography and its network of routes that connect cities, farmland and coastline. The work treats the road sign as a national and regional identifier, which is why its theme sits under Brazil, Geography and National Identity. It is an abstraction of place rather than a map or a landmark.

Fitted to the Sticker

A road sign is a flat, bounded shape, and this design suits a die-cut sticker because the sticker is cut to its own outline. The sign's silhouette becomes the sticker's edge, so the object carries the artwork's frame with no border left over. It is a small, self-contained marker of place that works equally well on a laptop, a notebook or a bag, where the designation can be read the moment the surface is in view.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/sp-657-brazil-road-sign-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-SP657-WHITED-front.webp?v=1793659420
