A pale pink, peony-like bloom anchors the panel, surrounded by sprigs of sage green leaves on fine branches. Lilac-tinted leaves cool the palette, so the blush pink and seal red read as accents rather than the main event. Red seal impressions are placed among the foliage, and the inscription 長洲沈周 appears as text within the artwork, the artist's name written in traditional characters.

Meaning & Symbolism

Literati painters used seasonal flowers as emblems of personal virtue and resilience, and this scroll documents that cycle as a meditation on how briefly blossoms last and how the natural world keeps returning. Shen Zhou (1427–1509) was a foundational figure of the Wu School, which valued individual expression and the union of poetry, calligraphy and painting. Made late in his career, the work shows his relaxed, scholarly brushwork applied to a traditional botanical subject.

Cut to the Bloom

A kiss-cut sticker follows its own outline, so the peony-like bloom and the sprigs of leaves become the shape of the object itself rather than a rectangle with a picture inside it. The backing stays intact, so the design can be lifted from its sheet and placed on a flat surface, such as a journal cover, where the scroll's sparse, open composition sits cleanly against the surface around it.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/shen-zhou-flowers-of-the-four-seasons-unknown-v7-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1788544726
https://thestickerspace.com/products/shen-zhou-flowers-of-the-four-seasons-unknown-v7-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
