Lines are the dominant feature, carried by the folds of the drapery and the angle of raised arms and weapons. The design is rendered in neutral tones that let the sculptural texture and the rhythm of the composition take centre stage.

Meaning & Symbolism

The original relief, by the French sculptor François Rude, commemorates the volunteers who marched to defend the French Revolution in 1792. Its figures stand for collective courage and the surge of a people answering a call to arms. The sculpture is one of the most celebrated works of French Romanticism, and this detail keeps the energy of that moment at the centre of the image.

On the Die-Cut Sticker

A die-cut sticker follows the outline of the figures, so the marching shapes lift cleanly from the backing as a single silhouette. The matte surface suits the stone-like tones of the sculpture and keeps the texture of the folds from glaring. The sticker is suited to both indoor and outdoor use, making it a bold accent for a laptop, a notebook or a bicycle frame.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/rude-francois-march-of-the-volunteers-of-1792-detail3-artwork-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal-22587874150442622559-front.webp?v=1789033791
https://thestickerspace.com/products/rude-francois-march-of-the-volunteers-of-1792-detail3-artwork-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal
