A bearded officer in a white uniform anchors the scene, while a warship on the water and a ship's cannon sit at the edges. Rifles stand racked behind the group. The design is organised into rectangular panels, and its Japanese inscriptions read 海軍将校等 (naval officers), 征清の戦略 (strategy against China) and 議論する図 (picture of a discussion).

Meaning & Symbolism

The print turns the planning room into the subject. Maps, seated rank and the orderly arrangement of weapons show command as disciplined and collective, and the sea and ship mark the navy as the arm where the war would be fought. Mizuno Toshikata, a ukiyo-e artist working in the 1890s, recorded the conflict with China in prints like this one, presenting the state's military decisions as a visible record of the period's formal, high-stakes atmosphere.

Designed for the Cut Outline

A kiss-cut sticker follows its own outline, so the figures, ship and cannon can be lifted off the flat sheet as a single shape rather than a framed rectangle. Its adhesive suits flat surfaces such as journals and laptops, where the panel's sharp contrast between dark navy and cream reads cleanly at close range. Each piece carries the officers' deliberation onto a surface of your choosing.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/mizuno-toshikata-naval-officers-discussing-strategy-to-be-used-in-the-war-against-china-september-1894-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-MZNTSH-2X2-2-alt-3.webp?v=1785680731
https://thestickerspace.com/products/mizuno-toshikata-naval-officers-discussing-strategy-to-be-used-in-the-war-against-china-september-1894-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
