Mountains rise in the distance, crowned with pavilions, while willow trees line the riverbank and an arched wooden bridge spans the water. Clusters of shrubs in the foreground anchor the eye. The palette is restrained: ochre brown, muted teal, dark olive, pale sage and dusty blue-grey, all carried in ink and colour on silk with a soft, faded tone that gives the scene its hushed quality.

Meaning & Symbolism

Mount Xisai is celebrated in Chinese poetry above all through the Tang dynasty poet Zhang Zhihe and his verses on the Old Fisherman of Blue Wave River. Placing a fisherman's lodge at this revered site invokes reclusion, spiritual freedom and harmony with nature, ideals treasured by literati and scholar-officials. During the turbulence of the Southern Song, such imagery offered a picture of retreat, philosophical detachment and a simpler, untethered life away from the imperial court. The Southern Song was also a high point for landscape painting, prized for misty atmospheres and lyrical moods, and this work belongs to that tradition.

Made for the Sticker Surface

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to the exact outline of its artwork, so the scroll's scenery becomes a self-contained shape that can be placed on its own. The fisherman's lodge, bridge and willows read clearly at a glance, letting the painting travel from the silk scroll onto a surface of your choosing, where it keeps the contemplative mood of its original setting.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/li-jie-fishermans-lodge-at-mount-xisai-ca-1170-v1-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1787972511
https://thestickerspace.com/products/li-jie-fishermans-lodge-at-mount-xisai-ca-1170-v1-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
