The composition balances the ethereal grace of the central courtesan with the substantial form of the mount, utilizing traditional Edo-period linework and flattened perspective to command the visual field.

Symbolism & Legend

The imagery draws upon the famous Buddhist legend where the courtesan Eguchi reveals herself as an incarnation of Fugen Bosatsu, challenging a visiting monk to recognize spiritual purity beyond conventional appearances. This juxtaposition of fleeting earthly pleasure and sacred transcendence reflects the complex cultural syncretism of early modern Japan.

On the Kiss-Cut Stickers

Transformed into a kiss-cut sticker, this intricate historical woodblock print is cleanly trimmed to the exact outline of the artwork, allowing the detailed lines of Shuntei's composition to stand sharply apart from any surface it adorns.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/katsukawa-shuntei-eguchi-no-kimi-late-18thearly-19th-century-v2-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-front.webp?v=1788716048
https://thestickerspace.com/products/katsukawa-shuntei-eguchi-no-kimi-late-18thearly-19th-century-v2-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
