Rose pink blossoms fill the upper half and draw the eye across the sheet, while grass green slopes and pine trees anchor the lower register. Pale cream ground and dark brown linework define the figures: women reach up toward the branches, one holds an open fan, and another stands with a child at her side. Small characters, 春潮画, appear within the print as the artist's inscription.

Meaning & Symbolism

Hanami, the custom of viewing cherry blossoms, is the subject here, and the blossoms stand for the brief beauty of the season. The shared outing shows a communal side of Edo-period life, with people and nature sharing one frame. Shunchō's elegant line work and careful figure drawing belong to the late eighteenth-century Ukiyo-e tradition, which turned everyday pleasures into a record of its own time.

Cut to the Blossoms

A kiss-cut sticker follows its own outline, so the pink blossoms, figures and fan can sit on a surface without a rectangular border around them. The cut turns a triptych into a shape that can be placed on a laptop lid, a journal cover or a window pane, where the print's spring palette lifts the surface it sits on. Each piece carries the same hanami scene as the original print, reduced to the blossoms and the people beneath them.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/katsukawa-shunch-women-and-children-viewing-the-cherry-blossoms-at-gotenyama-ca-1787-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-KTSSHN-2X2-212-alt-3.webp?v=1785727884
https://thestickerspace.com/products/katsukawa-shunch-women-and-children-viewing-the-cherry-blossoms-at-gotenyama-ca-1787-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
