The figure and her tray sit at the centre of a vertical rectangular panel, so the eye moves straight from the woman to the sweets she offers. Floral pattern appears across the composition, and the characters 春潮画 in the margin read as Shunchō's name, anchoring the print to its maker.

Meaning & Symbolism

Sweetmeats were a regular part of Edo-period hospitality, and the tray marks the scene as one of everyday courtesy rather than spectacle. The print belongs to the ukiyo-e movement, whose artists turned daily life, fashion and domestic custom into popular images. Shunchō worked in the late eighteenth century, and this piece shows how the genre used a single graceful figure to record the manners and pleasures of its time.

Why This Works on a Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to the outline of its own artwork, so the vertical panel and the figure's silhouette stay intact on the surface they are placed on. Because the design is built around one central figure and a tray, it reads clearly at close range, the way a collector would hold a print. Applied to a laptop, journal or other smooth indoor surface, the sticker carries an 18th-century Japanese scene into everyday use.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/katsukawa-shunch-a-young-woman-with-a-tray-of-sweetmeats-17801795-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-KTSSHN-2X2-170-alt-3.webp?v=1785731065
https://thestickerspace.com/products/katsukawa-shunch-a-young-woman-with-a-tray-of-sweetmeats-17801795-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
