The composition stacks objects across a vertical panel and folding screen divisions. A flowering branch rises from an ink-wash vase, a ding-style censer with handles sits beside it, and a teapot with an arched handle stands on tripod legs. A potted plant rests on an openwork stand, and a bowl sits on a carved base. Stacked tripod censers anchor the lower register, so the eye moves from heavy bronze to airy blossom.

Meaning & Symbolism

This is a gimyeong jeoljido painting, the Korean genre of ancient vessels and broken plant branches. The bronzes signal reverence for antiquity, classical learning and ancestral heritage. The flowers carry prosperity, longevity and moral purity. Together they expressed the aspirations of the nineteenth-century literati and upper classes, who prized curated antiquities as proof of both material fortune and scholarly refinement. Owon painted it near the end of his career, when still life was at its most popular and Joseon taste was meeting modern sensibilities.

Cut to the Vessel's Outline

A kiss-cut sticker takes the shape of its own artwork, so the bronze silhouettes and branches keep their edges instead of sitting inside a rectangle. Each object reads as a separate form, which suits a design built from distinct antiquities. Its scale and surface hold the detail of an ink wash painting in close view, so the brushwork and the stacked censers can be studied up close the way a collector would handle a scholar's object.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/jang-seung-eop-pen-name-still-life-with-bronze-vessels-and-flowering-plants-1894-v5-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1787954552
https://thestickerspace.com/products/jang-seung-eop-pen-name-still-life-with-bronze-vessels-and-flowering-plants-1894-v5-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
