Muted metallic tones define the vessels, providing a grounded contrast to the sweeping, ink-heavy strokes that bring the blossoms and foliage to life. The negative space is utilized with restraint, characteristic of the scholar-official aesthetic of the late Joseon era, allowing the intricate textures of the bronze and the delicate petals to remain the central focus of the frame.

Historical Significance

Attributed to the final years of the 19th century, this piece reflects a period where Korean literati culture deeply engaged with "chaekgeori" and still-life traditions. The inclusion of bronze vessels signifies a reverence for antiquity and the scholarly pursuit of connoisseurship, while the flowering plants represent seasonal cycles and natural vitality. Jang Seung-eop, known for his unconventional style and rejection of rigid academic constraints, infuses this traditional subject matter with a dynamic energy that bridges the gap between historical reverence and artistic expression.

On the Sticker

The kiss-cut format isolates these historical elements from their original ten-panel screen background, allowing the bronze vessels and flowers to act as a standalone graphic. Because the die follows the complex contours of the antique shapes and floral silhouettes, the sticker functions as a focused highlight of classical brushwork, bringing a piece of the Met Museum’s collection onto the flat surfaces of your journal or laptop.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/jang-seung-eop-pen-name-still-life-with-bronze-vessels-and-flowering-plants-1894-v1-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-front.webp?v=1788736518
https://thestickerspace.com/products/jang-seung-eop-pen-name-still-life-with-bronze-vessels-and-flowering-plants-1894-v1-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
