A woman in layered kimono walks along a wooden veranda in the foreground, while two women and a child peer through a geometric lattice screen. Snow-dusted shrubs anchor the scene at its edges. The lattice runs through the composition as a repeated pattern, dividing the figures from the open air. A vertical title cartouche carries the series name 風流四季遊 and the season character 冬, meaning winter.

Meaning & Symbolism

Koryūsai produced this print as part of Elegant Play in the Four Seasons (Fūryūshiki asobi), a series that presented the seasons through fashionable women at leisure. The style draws on Suzuki Harunobu, whose delicate figures and soft colour shaped the period's ukiyo-e. The scene carries a poem about a lover's footprints left in the morning snow, which turns the stillness of the landscape into a small romantic narrative. The snow marks time, and the traces it holds are brief, which is the seasonal beauty the series returns to again and again.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to its own outline, so the artwork's edges become the object's shape. Here that means the veranda, the lattice and the figures define the sticker's silhouette rather than sitting inside a rectangle. The snow-dusted winter scene stays intact as a single image, and its quiet mood reads clearly at the size of a hand. Each sticker carries the whole of this winter composition, cut close to the figures it frames.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/isoda-korysai-winter-from-the-series-elegant-play-in-the-four-seasons-fryshiki-asobi-ca-177375-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-SDKRY-2X2-112-alt-3.webp?v=1785743993
https://thestickerspace.com/products/isoda-korysai-winter-from-the-series-elegant-play-in-the-four-seasons-fryshiki-asobi-ca-177375-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
