The text is minimal: the IRL abbreviation and the L3198 code carry the identity of the piece, and nothing competes with them. The result is a bold, uncluttered graphic that reads as a sign first and a picture second.

Meaning & Symbolism

A road sign is a message meant to be read in passing, and this design applies that idea to national identity. IRL is the standard abbreviation for Ireland, and the design is associated with the themes of Ireland, national identity and geography. The sign points to a place and to the idea of belonging to it, which is the whole argument of the piece. The original artwork is catalogued under L3198, and this reproduction follows that design.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to its own outline, so the sign's shape becomes the object itself. There is no square backing to frame it; the silhouette is what sits on the surface it is applied to. That suits a design whose entire idea is a single clear marker pointing one way. For collectors of road-sign and Ireland-themed pieces, the cut line matters as much as the print.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/irl-l3198-ireland-road-sign-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-RLL-2X2-34-front.webp?v=1793591119
