A seated woman in silk robes rests her chin on her hand, and beside her an orchid grows in a ceramic pot above a rock-shaped table holding a brush and inkstone. The palette is restrained and warm: ochre and pale gold dominate, with sage green and teal blue in the foliage and vermilion as the accent that draws the eye.

Meaning & Symbolism

Yang Guifei, one of the Four Beauties of ancient China, is linked here with the peony, a flower that signified wealth, nobility and romance, and her tragic story drew artists across China and Japan for generations. Yanji is set beside orchids, which stood for integrity, refinement and spring. Together the pairing treats virtue and allure as two faces of the same idealised feminine beauty, and it reflects on how beauty passes while classic narratives endure. Genki was associated with the Maruyama-Shijō school and worked during the Edo period, drawing heavily on Chinese precedent to build these elegant figure studies.

Built for the Sticker's Own Outline

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to the exact contour of the artwork, so the scroll's figures and botanical details read as a single shape rather than a rectangle with a picture inside it. Its flat, glossy face suits a close view, like a journal cover or a laptop lid, where the brushwork and the faded-gold tones can be taken in at arm's length.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/genki-komai-ki-yanji-with-orchids-and-yang-guifei-with-peonies-1785-v3-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1787945459
https://thestickerspace.com/products/genki-komai-ki-yanji-with-orchids-and-yang-guifei-with-peonies-1785-v3-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
