Delicate botanical motifs and seasonal flora anchor the foreground, while misty mountain contours frame the historic capital's urban topography. The palette relies on earthy mineral pigments, restrained greens, and muted golds that capture the subtle tonal shifts of the Edo period.

Historical Context and Symbolism

Rooted in the artistic traditions of 18th-century Kyoto, Genki’s work belongs to a lineage of master painters documenting famous places and seasonal transitions. The four seasons serve as a traditional metaphor for impermanence and the passage of time, with specific flora and fauna marking the distinct phases of the Japanese calendar. As part of the Met Museum's archival holdings, this piece preserves the refined sensibilities of Kyoto school painting.

On the Kiss-Cut Stickers

The intricate details of this classic handscroll map cleanly to the custom contour-cut silhouette, framing centuries-old brushwork in a sharp, modern outline.
