Nothing competes with it. The sign format frames the name the way a roadside marker frames a destination, with the layout kept simple and legible so the word is read at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

Ecuador is a country on the north-western coast of South America, and its name is the Spanish word for the equator, the line the country straddles. The road-sign format borrows the language of public wayfinding, where a sign's job is to mark a place and point the way to it. Here that convention is turned toward a single country, presenting Ecuador as a destination in its own right.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A road sign is a flat, bounded shape, and a kiss-cut sticker follows that boundary exactly. The cut traces the sign's own outline, so the piece reads as the sign itself rather than a rectangle with a sign printed on it. For collectors of place-based designs and for anyone who has a connection to Ecuador, the object works as a small, self-contained marker of that country.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/ecuador-e154-ecuador-road-sign-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-CDRE15-2X2-7-front.webp?v=1793897575
