William Gamble and Staff at Camp Stoneman, the Cavalry Depot at Giesborough Point (U.S. Civil War) STICKER Vinyl Kiss-Cut Decal

A black-and-white photograph of General William Gamble and his staff gathered at Camp Stoneman, the cavalry depot at Giesborough Point in the District of Columbia.

Visual Elements & Composition

The image is entirely in greys, from pale sky to near-black uniforms, and sits inside a rectangular photographic frame. Uniformed officers with swords take up the group, some seated on wooden chairs in front, with a man standing beside a horse and a small child seated at the front edge. A small wooden building and a line of trees sit in the background, giving the scene its open, outdoor setting.

Meaning & Symbolism

The photograph shows the staff of a military camp in the District of Columbia during the Civil War era, at the cavalry depot named Camp Stoneman on Giesborough Point. The swords and the horse point to the mounted arm of that war, while the seated officers and the wooden building show the routine of camp life. The child in front is a reminder that the camp was not made up of soldiers alone.

On a Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is trimmed to the outline of its artwork, so the frame and the grouped figures can be cut to their own edge and set directly on a surface. The monochrome palette suits a flat, uncluttered surface, and the piece works as a small, quiet document of one moment in the district's history.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/district-of-columbia-gen-william-gamble-and-staff-at-camp-stoneman-the-cavalry-depot-at-giesborough-point-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-87329319173926339334-alt-3.webp?v=1787758174
https://thestickerspace.com/products/district-of-columbia-gen-william-gamble-and-staff-at-camp-stoneman-the-cavalry-depot-at-giesborough-point-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
