The design is a vibrant and symbolic representation of the area's history and heritage.

Design Elements and Meaning

The top portion of the shield, known as the "chief," features a classic Bavarian diamond pattern in alternating white (silver) and light-blue (celeste) lozenges. This pattern is a direct reference to the Wittelsbach dynasty, which historically ruled Bavaria, and acknowledges the region's historical connection to Bavarian possessions along the Mangfall river.

The lower part of the shield is divided vertically. The left side displays two water-lily leaves, crossed in an "X" shape, with stems. These leaves are "counterchanged," meaning they reverse colors against their backgrounds (a white leaf on blue, and vice versa). This element symbolizes the lakes and wetlands of the Chiemsee and surrounding "Chiemgau" region and draws inspiration from the former districts of Bad Aibling and Rosenheim.

On the right side, a red lion rampant (standing upright on one leg), crowned and armed in gold (yellow), stands proudly against a white (silver) background. This regal lion represents the historical Counts of Wasserburg, a symbolic connection to the former district of Wasserburg am Inn, which was incorporated into the new Landkreis Rosenheim during administrative reforms.

Historical Incorporation

The coat of arms, officially granted in 1976, is a carefully constructed design by artist Jürgen Krause. It encapsulates the merging of the former districts of Rosenheim, Bad Aibling, and parts of Wasserburg, each contributing a unique element to the collective visual identity of the modern Landkreis Rosenheim.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/deu-landkreis-rosenheim-coa-germany-coat-of-arms-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-2-inch-white-position1.webp?v=1764526359
https://thestickerspace.com/products/deu-landkreis-rosenheim-coa-germany-coat-of-arms-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
