At its base, a gold (yellow) "point" rises upwards, a distinctive heraldic feature known as an "eingeschweifte Spitze." Within this gold point, a vibrant blue peacock strides to the right, its tail elegantly lowered (a "peacock passant Azure").

The upper portion of the shield, set against the silver background, is adorned with two prominent red crosses. One is positioned on the viewer's left (dexter) and the other on the right (sinister), creating a balanced and visually appealing composition.

Symbolism and Meaning

The design eloquently represents the historical roots of the Neuwied district. The two red crosses pay homage to the Electorates of Cologne and Trier, two powerful ecclesiastical states that historically governed significant portions of the area.

The peacock, the most prominent symbol, is derived from the coat of arms of the Counts of Wied, later Princes of Wied-Neuwied. This noble family held a dominant role in the region for numerous centuries, making the peacock a potent symbol of lineage and territorial heritage.

This coat of arms, officially granted in 1927, serves as a visual testament to the intertwined history of the district, merging clerical influence (the crosses) with the legacy of a powerful noble family (the peacock) on a single, compelling emblem.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/deu-landkreis-neuwied-coa-germany-coat-of-arms-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-2-inch-white-position1.webp?v=1764526233
https://thestickerspace.com/products/deu-landkreis-neuwied-coa-germany-coat-of-arms-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
