Group of Officers. Capt. Pierce, Capt. Page, Capt. Howell, Lt. Kelly. Headquarters, Army of the Potomac (U.S. Civil War) STICKER Vinyl Kiss-Cut Decal

This design reproduces a black-and-white photograph of four officers gathered outside a canvas tent at army headquarters in Culpeper, Virginia, during the American Civil War.

Visual Elements & Composition

The image is a grey-toned photograph with a dark border. A pyramidal canvas tent occupies the background, and wooden folding chairs stand among the men. Four officers are arranged across the frame: one in a wide-brimmed hat reads a letter while standing, another in a kepi reads papers, and a seated officer holds a small box. The mix of white, grey and black tones gives the scene its documentary quality, and the figures, not the setting, carry the composition.

Meaning & Symbolism

The photograph records the command life of the Army of the Potomac in the 1860s. Culpeper served as a base for the army's headquarters, and this group portrait names the officers pictured: Captain Pierce, Captain Page, Captain Howell and Lieutenant Kelly. It documents the leadership structure of the period through the men themselves, at work with papers and correspondence rather than in battle. The image stands as a direct reference to the individuals it names and to the headquarters where they served.

Why This Kiss-Cut Works

A kiss-cut sticker is trimmed to the shape of its artwork, so the dark border and the tent form the edge of the object. The design suits smooth, flat surfaces such as laptops, journals and windows, where a photographic subject with a clear border reads cleanly. Each officer stays visible within the frame, which keeps the group portrait intact on a small surface.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/culpeper-virginia-group-of-officers-capt-pierce-capt-page-capt-howell-lt-kelly-headquarters-army-of-the-potomac-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-28664913274676508810-alt-3.webp?v=1787757990
https://thestickerspace.com/products/culpeper-virginia-group-of-officers-capt-pierce-capt-page-capt-howell-lt-kelly-headquarters-army-of-the-potomac-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
