A royal pavilion with a tiered red roof sits among tree-green foliage, and grass green ground carries the procession across the picture. Seated musicians perform on a raised platform, drummers carry large drums, and ceremonial attendants in white and pink costume move through the scene. An elephant and a parasol-bearing figure give the procession its height and status. Gold yellow, rose red and pale white dominate the palette, and the flat, decorative handling of the figures and foliage keeps every element legible at a glance.

Meaning & Symbolism

The procession is the point of the image. Royal processions, ceremonies and entertainments were how the Burmese monarchy displayed order, rank and continuity, and each role in the scene, from musician to parasol-bearer, marks a place in that structure. The painting is a watercolor and gold on mulberry paper work from the Court of King Mindon, held in the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. It focuses on the cultural significance of court events rather than on any single portrait, so the subject is the ceremony itself.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

A kiss-cut sticker is cut to the outline of its artwork, so this composition arrives as a shape that follows the pavilion, the procession and the attendants rather than as a rectangle. It suits smooth, flat surfaces such as laptops, journals and windows, where the cut edge lets the full scene read as a single image. Its scale allows close viewing, so the musicians, drummers and parasol-bearer can be examined one detail at a time.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/court-of-king-mindon-or-royal-processions-ceremonies-and-entertainments-1870s1880s-v29-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1787937504
https://thestickerspace.com/products/court-of-king-mindon-or-royal-processions-ceremonies-and-entertainments-1870s1880s-v29-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
