The top section, rendered in azure (blue), features a golden pomegranate, its open form revealing red kernels. This pomegranate, or "granada" in Spanish, serves as a direct reference to the nation's name. Flanking the pomegranate are two golden cornucopias, overflowing with coins and tropical fruits, representing the nation's abundant mineral wealth and fertile lands.

The middle section, a field of gules (red), presents a silver horse, a powerful symbol of independence and national freedom. The base of the shield depicts the Isthmus of Panama, rendered in azure, with silver waves representing the two oceans. Black ships with unfurled sails navigate these waters, highlighting the strategic commercial importance of the land connection.

Supporters and Crest: Emblems of Ideals

Above the shield, a crest features a green laurel wreath, embraced by a spread-winged black eagle. These figures wear silver tunics, Justice in blue and Liberty in red, further reinforcing national symbolism. They stand upon a green field, lush with plants, representing the natural richness of the country.

A Vision of Identity

This meticulously designed coat of arms is a vibrant representation of the aspirations of early 19th-century New Granada.
