The cannon sits at the centre, its barrel angled across the scene and its carriage resting on large wooden-spoked wheels. A chain hangs from the carriage and draws the eye down to the ground. The soft tonal range and the slate blue accent in the margins give the piece the look of a period print mounted on card.

Meaning & Symbolism

The image records an artillery position during the American Civil War. Port Hudson was a fortified point on the Mississippi, and the batteries shown belonged to the 15th Arkansas Confederate Infantry. The cannon stands for the logistics of siege warfare as much as for combat: the wheels, chain and carriage show the heavy, practical equipment that kept a camp operating. The scene is documentary in purpose, preserving the look of a military encampment from the 1860s.

On the Die-Cut Sticker

A die-cut sticker can follow the outline of the cannon and its wheels, so the carriage stands clear of any background when the piece is peeled and applied. The fine spokes and chain are best seen up close, which suits a sticker placed on a journal, a sketchbook or the lid of a notebook kept near the reader.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/cannon-mounted-in-the-camp-of-duryeas-and-bainbridges-batteries-15th-arkansas-confederate-infantry-port-hudson-louisiana-001-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal-14946801307727620_1df40a89-e924-4d09-be75-53d165e7c203.webp?v=1790570478
https://thestickerspace.com/products/cannon-mounted-in-the-camp-of-duryeas-and-bainbridges-batteries-15th-arkansas-confederate-infantry-port-hudson-louisiana-001-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal
