The design is immediately recognizable by its bold geometric layout.

Key Visual Elements

At the heart of the design is a white disc, enclosed within a vibrant red circular border. Dominating the disc's surface is a distinctive black "Y" shape, known heraldically as a pall. The arms of the "Y" extend towards the red border, each ending with a square shape, without touching it. In this way, the "Y" stands out clearly against the white background and red border.

Symbolism and Meaning

The "Y" shape itself carries profound meaning, representing the confluence of the Niger and Benue rivers, essential waterways for the Company's operations in the region. The meeting point of the rivers is where the three "arms" come together, which symbolize the rivers' union at Lokoja. More broadly, the threefold structure suggests stability and unity.

Emblazoned on each arm of the "Y" are three Latin words in gold: ARS, JUS, and PAX. These words encapsulate the Company's self-proclaimed mission: ARS (Art/Skill) references the trade and administration they introduced, JUS (Justice) speaks to their claims of fairness, and PAX (Peace) reflects their claim of bringing order to the territory.

This sticker offers a snapshot of a complex era, encapsulated in a design that is both historically evocative and visually arresting.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/badge-of-the-royal-niger-company-niger-coat-of-arms-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-2-inch-white-position1.webp?v=1772446717
https://thestickerspace.com/products/badge-of-the-royal-niger-company-niger-coat-of-arms-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
