Ink black and ink grey wash build the orchid plant and its flower buds, with the grey wash giving the stems and leaves a soft tonal fall against the paper. A vertical column of brush-written inscription runs beside the plant, and red seal stamps punctuate the page in seal red, the only warm accent against the cream.

Meaning & Symbolism

Shanren worked across the close of the Ming and the opening of the Qing, and his pages carry that moment in their restraint. Painting and calligraphy share a single brush here, so the inscription reads as part of the image rather than a caption. The red seals record ownership and authorship within the scholarly tradition, a trace of the hands that held the leaf. The orchid is one of the most enduring subjects of the literati brush, chosen for what it suggests about cultivated character and quiet endurance.

On the Kiss-Cut Stickers

A kiss-cut sticker follows its own outline, so the orchid's silhouette, buds and seals can be isolated from the album page and placed exactly where the composition breaks. Shanren's leaves were made to be turned and studied up close, and this object asks for the same close attention, setting a fragment of his brushwork on a surface you pass every day.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/bada-shanren-zhu-da-album-of-miscellaneous-paintings-unknown-v3-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-unknown-alt-3.webp?v=1787930888
https://thestickerspace.com/products/bada-shanren-zhu-da-album-of-miscellaneous-paintings-unknown-v3-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
