Elaborate, scrolling acanthus leaves entwine with stylized, flame-like patterns that radiate from a central hearth motif. The fine-lined cross-hatching and deep contrast of the original etching create a tactile sense of depth, emphasizing the sculptural quality of the gilded or forged forms. The layout is structured, balancing heavy, grounded ornamental bases with delicate, airy tendrils that extend toward the edges of the plate, suggesting both weight and movement.

Artistic Heritage

Originating from the collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art, this print represents the technical obsession of the late 1600s, where functional items like fire pits and basins were treated as high-art canvases. These designs were created for silversmiths and artisans, serving as blueprints for objects that defined the opulence of the period. The imagery captures the transition from functional utility to decorative excess, reflecting a time when even the most mundane household object served as a stage for complex, mythically inspired craftsmanship.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

Because this sticker is kiss-cut to the specific outline of the engraving, the intricate tendrils and scrolling lines of the metalwork are isolated from their background. This creates a sharp silhouette that mimics the appearance of a physical, metallic appliqué when applied to a flat surface like a journal cover or laptop. The precision of the cut highlights the complex geometry of Loir’s work, allowing these antique, ornate details to stand out as a singular graphic element.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/alexis-loir-plate-1-from-desseins-de-brasiers-dont-les-ornements-peuuent-seruir-aux-cuuettes-16601713-v3-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-LXSLR-2X2-9-front.webp?v=1789219390
https://thestickerspace.com/products/alexis-loir-plate-1-from-desseins-de-brasiers-dont-les-ornements-peuuent-seruir-aux-cuuettes-16601713-v3-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
