The composition balances the monumental bulk of the equestrian statue against stark, dramatic framing that communicates late Renaissance printmaking ambition.

Iconography & Historical Context

Dating to circa 1587–89, this plate engages with the transience of political might, contrasting the enduring pageantry of imperial monuments with the historical reality of Vitellius’s violent death during the Year of the Four Emperors. Collaert translates antique sculpture and classical historiography into the vernacular of the Antwerp print market, catering to collectors of moralizing historical series.

On the Kiss-Cut Stickers

This intricate historical engraving translates onto a precise kiss-cut silhouette that isolates the complex linework against your chosen backing surface, turning a centuries-old museum print into a portable archival artifact.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/adriaen-collaert-plate-9-equestrian-statue-of-vitellius-seen-three-quarters-to-the-left-with-his-death-ca-158789-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-DRNCLL-2X2-37-front.webp?v=1789161004
https://thestickerspace.com/products/adriaen-collaert-plate-9-equestrian-statue-of-vitellius-seen-three-quarters-to-the-left-with-his-death-ca-158789-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
