Perelle employs a high-contrast etching style where dense, hatched shadows establish the depth of the stone facades and the sprawling, manicured gardens. The foreground is dominated by the sprawling architectural footprint, while the mid-ground features structured tree lines and formal pathways. Delicate, hand-drawn numerals and stylistic flourishes typical of 17th-century map-making and architectural documentation frame the lower periphery, grounding the structure in a specific cartographic tradition.

Historical Significance

Commissioned to memorialize the seat of Cardinal Richelieu, this print acts as a static record of one of the most ambitious residential projects of the era. The layout emphasizes order and absolute control over nature, reflecting the cardinal’s political influence and the prestige of the French monarchy during the 1600s. It stands as a testament to the era's obsession with perspective, where the scale of the entrance gate highlights the individual’s smallness in relation to the state’s absolute power.

On the Kiss-Cut Sticker

Because this design is rendered as a kiss-cut sticker, the complex silhouette of the chateau and its surrounding parterres can be peeled away from the backing as a single, detailed unit. The sticker’s ability to trace the intricate geometry of the architecture allows this historical etching to sit flat on journals or flat indoor surfaces, transforming a rigid architectural study into a portable fragment of 17th-century art history.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/adam-perelle-le-chteau-de-richelieu-en-poictou-du-ct-de-lentre-17th-century-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-TSS-STICK-DMPRL-2X2-5-front.webp?v=1789155179
https://thestickerspace.com/products/adam-perelle-le-chteau-de-richelieu-en-poictou-du-ct-de-lentre-17th-century-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
