Lincoln wears a dark suit and bow tie, and the carved arms of the chair frame his body. The studio backdrop falls away behind him, so the face and the dark clothing carry the image. The composition is formal and centred, with a rectangular print border around the whole scene.

Meaning & Symbolism

Lincoln was the sixteenth President of the United States and led the country through the Civil War, and this portrait presents him in the dignified, seated pose typical of the period. The studio setting and the restrained grey tones are the visual signature of nineteenth-century portraiture, when a formal likeness was a public statement of standing and character.

Cut to the Figure

A die-cut sticker follows the outline of the portrait, so Lincoln and the chair are lifted cleanly from the surface beneath. The dark suit and the grey backdrop give the cut a clear edge, and the seated figure reads well at the scale a sticker allows.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/abraham-lincoln-president-of-the-united-states-three-quarter-length-portrait-seated-facing-right-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal-85274045535194877751-front.webp?v=1790567693
https://thestickerspace.com/products/abraham-lincoln-president-of-the-united-states-three-quarter-length-portrait-seated-facing-right-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-die-cut-decal
