Six rectangular frames sit in a grid, each holding a scene of soldiers and artillery carriages. The caption reads "22d New York State Militia near Harpers Ferry, Va." with the date 1864 printed in the lower corner, so the page works as both image and record.

Meaning & Symbolism

The page documents a New York militia regiment on campaign near Harpers Ferry, in what was then Virginia, during the early years of the American Civil War. Its field cannons and posed soldiers reflect how regiments were recorded in the period, with photographs of men and their equipment kept as a personal or unit record. The album format ties the set of images together as a single account of one unit's service.

Cut Around the Photographs

A kiss-cut sticker follows the outline of the album page, so the rectangular frames and the caption band keep their full layout. The grid reads best at close range, where each sepia scene can be seen on a laptop, journal or notebook.

//cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0493/3949/8646/files/22d-new-york-state-militia-near-harpers-ferry-va-1861-ie18623-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal-21630655622143829979-alt-3.webp?v=1787749251
https://thestickerspace.com/products/22d-new-york-state-militia-near-harpers-ferry-va-1861-ie18623-us-civil-war-sticker-vinyl-kiss-cut-decal
